Man City news: Midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne to leave Etihad this summer

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has revealed that he is bringing the curtain down on his trophy-laden spell at the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 33-year-old has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five Carabao Cups, and the Champions League since arriving from Wolfsburg for a fee of £54.5m back in 2015.

De Bruyne played a key role in the treble-winning 2020-21 campaign and has been a firm fixture in many a Fantasy Football manager’s team due to his creative flair and ability to both score and create goals.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of season, De Bruyne has decided to confirm his upcoming departure on social media, saying: “These will be my final months as a Manchester City player. Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the last chapter. Let’s enjoy these last moments together.”

Here, Sports News Blitz takes a look back at the Belgian’s time in Manchester.

⚽ Midfield maestro of Manchester

When Kevin De Bruyne arrived at Manchester City in 2015, he wasn’t just joining a football club – he was about to define an era.

Over the years, he has become the creative heartbeat of one of the greatest club sides in football history and a player whose elegance, intelligence, and technical brilliance have elevated the very art of midfield play.

Signed from Wolfsburg for what was a club-record fee at the time, De Bruyne arrived with high expectations and somehow exceeded every one.

Once overlooked at Chelsea, he returned to England with less a point to prove than a game to transform, and that is exactly what he did.

The Belgian doesn't just assist goals – he orchestrates them thanks to a clean, efficient, and devastatingly effective technique.

Ultimately, there is poetry in how he plays, with each touch purposeful, each movement composed, and each decision wise.
