Everton analysis: Why is there no pressure on manager Sean Dyche?
Everton are in a poor run of form - despite what other media outlets like to tell you.
Sports News Blitz writer Jon Shea delves into their performances so far this season - and wonders what’s going on at Goodison…
They’ve lost that winning feeling
The Toffees have won just two games in the Premier League all season and have not won since the win away to Ipswich in late October.
Despite this run, Sean Dyche is seemingly under no pressure whatsoever, and amidst the news that Steve Cooper was sacked by Leicester City, with the Foxes only a point behind Everton.
Everton fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with Dyche and his style of play, and with it being the last season at Goodison there seems to be zero excitement.
Big opportunity missed
Everton had a huge opportunity to end their winless run against Brentford, who had not won a point away from home all season and were down to 10 men.
However, Everton could not break the Bees down and made it back-to-back goalless draws in the league.
Dyche’s teams are notoriously poor on the front foot, and it was evident again as Everton created no clear-cut chances.
In fact it was Brentford who created the best chances in the match.
On paper, Everton’s favourable run of the season has resulted in just two wins, and with their December fixtures looking rather unfavourable, it could be bleak viewing come Christmas.
Here are some stats to just show how bad a time Everton are having at the moment:
Everton have scored the joint-second lowest goals in the league (10), with only Southampton scoring less (9).
Everton have only scored more than one goal twice in their last nine games in all competitions.
Everton have lost six points from two-goal leads in the league this season – one more than any other club.
Everton have only won four home league games in 2024.

Demanding December
Everton’s December consists of matches against Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, and the small matter of the last Merseyside Derby at Goodison.
A quote that continues to spread around the media about Everton is “just get to the new stadium” and Sean Dyche is “the perfect man” for the job.
There is no doubt Dyche has had as rough a time as Everton manager as any have in their history, and what he did last season was miraculous in the circumstances.
But Everton need results, in particular wins - and Dyche is not getting them.
Everton have won seven games of football since last December, but still, there is no pressure on Dyche.
And with him coming into the last six months of his contract, it looks like the club are just waiting for the imminent takeover of the Friedkin Group to sort it all out.
Can they afford to do that? Time will tell.
Everton’s current board and outgoing owner Farhad Moshiri have maintained their backing for Dyche despite the run they are on.
Everton have a trip to Old Trafford to play next on Sunday, a place the Toffees have only won twice at since the Premier League was formed, no Evertonian is going into the game with any degree of confidence.
Dyche will need to start to get results, otherwise Everton’s position in the table will begin to look precarious – if it does not already.
