Horse racing news: Irish Guineas win puts Field of Gold ahead of Ruling Court on Timeform ratings
Field of Gold has shot to the head of Timeform's three-year-old pecking order after earning a rating of 124p (from 122p) for his emphatic victory in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh on Saturday 24 May.
He was arguably unlucky when staying on strongly to be beaten only half a length by Ruling Court in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, but he stepped up on that form at the Curragh and is now rated 1lb higher than his old rival.
Field of Gold scored by three and three-quarter lengths, making him the widest-margin winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas since his own sire Kingman scored by five lengths in 2014.
The best performance since Churchill
Field of Gold's performance in the Irish 2000 Guineas has been rated by Timeform as the best in the race since Churchill registered a comfortable win in 2017, while Kingman's rating of 130 is the best in the race this century.
Timeform handicapper Billy Nash said: “Eleven years to the day after landing this prize with Kingman, the Gosdens and Juddmonte were back in the winners' enclosure courtesy of one of Kingman's sons, with Field of Gold making amends for a slightly unlucky defeat at Newmarket.
“Kept wide out of trouble by his new jockey, Colin Keane, Field of Gold settled the issue in a matter of strides over a furlong out, easily winning a good renewal that was run at a fair pace and had no hard-luck stories.
“His new rating puts him 1lb ahead of Ruling Court and, with the promise of more to come, it will be a surprise if he doesn't add to his Group 1 tally.”

Great minds Einstein and Darwin rate alike
There were also some notable ratings changes at the Curragh on Sunday with Albert Einstein (109p from 96p) impressing in the Marble Hill Stakes and Los Angeles (125 from 122) showing a brilliant attitude to win the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Albert Einstein is now the joint highest-rated juvenile along with Charles Darwin, who is also trained by Aidan O'Brien.
He is moreover the favourite for the Coventry Stakes and, of O'Brien's 10 winners of the race, only Caravaggio went to Royal Ascot with a higher Timeform rating (112p).
Los Angeles is now O'Brien's highest-rated horse in training following the retirement of Kyprios (128).
He's only 1lb behind the highest-rated horses in Britain or Ireland, Rosallion and White Birch, and 4lb behind the highest-rated horse in Europe, Calandagan.
